I would like some help for Oblivion since I am trying to 100% the game and only have 10 more achievements which is the mages guild storyline and 1 for Shivering Isles which wont be hard. I just need help on the darn mages guild. I cant even get past the recomendations. I still need Chorrol, and Leyawiin. I know one I have to get a book called Fingers of the Mountain for some Argonian and I did, but I stole it from him to give to another ex mage guild member I guess. Now i need a welkynd stone, if you can tell me where to find one of them then disregard whats after this --> Did that mess me up? Should I make another character and just finish it with him?

Welkynd stones are the glowing stones in most of the underground crypts.
You can find them throughout the shops and guilds as well. Just get one and complete the quest, easy as that.
I also thought that you could pickpocket the book back from whoever you gave it to. That way you can bypass getting the stone and complete the quest. I believe that's how I got through it. Just don't get caught.

Yea, I would just go into a cave, they're EVERYWHERE. Run in, run out. Just make sure it's an Ayleid Ruin, not just a random cave.

Yeah I did that and it wont let, whenever i stole the book from him and tried mentioning the book to give it back to him, he would say funny you should bring that up, its gone missing and thats it. Ima try those other things you said. If they dont work im just going to make a new character and not do that lol

btw all that time i was going into ruins, i just didnt know that those glowing things on the wall where them, i thought i had to go through the whole ruin and at the end would be a shining one and that would be it but thanks a lot

Most of them do, but if you're really stumped try going to Arcane University and going through all the shops there. Someone has one, definitely. If not, start looking for it by stealing, you may also come across some when you kill shamans (the ugly troll/elfs with staffs). I also believe that shock/lighning weapons will work on the pillar as well. I personally used a Staff of Lightning.
EDIT: also, you don't need a Shock Resistance spell. Just a shock spell that does some type of shock damage.
