Alright, there seems to be a bit of confusion going around about News thread closings. Currently, there is no way to take a thread and just make it a News article, so if a thread is created by a member that is newsworthy, I have been copying the original post of that thread, and publishing it as a News article. The reason I do this is so that the topic will appear under news on the main page.
Subsequently I immediately provide a link to the original thread and close the News thread I created, so all comments will go to the original thread, in an effort to keep the forums clean and eliminate multiple topics. Yes, all posts in the original thread will count towards the original Poster's count for the "Discussion Sparker" Award, since all replies are going to your thread.
