My parents got some goodies installed on their 06GTO

My Parents just got something new on their 2006 Pontiac GTO. They just got some new DMH Low Profile Electronic Cutouts on the Exhaust because their were a mess of bends on that system. They previously had an APS Twin Turbo Kit installed, with supportive mods, tuned for 6PSI on stock block and tranny. The car prior was just nasty loud, couldn't really hear the turbos, but now they whistle like never before.

There is a couple of Reasons we went with the automatic.

At The Track, the Car sees no drop in boost whatsoever, as the car shifts damn fast.

The Automatic 4 Speed always E.T. better and sometimes trap higher than the 6Speed guys when it comes to the GTO.

No one expects an automatic to be fast lol.

on Shitty Falken ST555 tires the car went 11.44@122. That was on 6PSI, all street setup, nothing special.

Now we are going to be raising the boost to 9PSI, and have WAY stickier tires on the car, and are hoping to get close to a very low 11sec pass going 125+MPH at the track.

Whenever we build the motor and that transmission, we will crank the boost up to 18PSI and see what she does!

LMAO, it'll blow all the connecting rods unless the whole lower portion of the block is forged (which it's not from the factory). Not to mention it'll mash the pistons into every valve.

I've seen a lot of LS(X) version motors blow up at 10 pounds of boost WITH a forged top half, so unless your parents replace EVERY moving component in the motor it won't handle over 10 pounds of boost for more than 1 run...

I blew my motor at 148mph running a 9.97 with only 8 pounds of boost on a Kenne Bell supercharger and that was WITH forged everything... Stupid camshaft couldn't keep up and snapped.

it'll hold. my parents when driving around daily in the car rarely boost it up. 9PSI is the max the car will hold. We may not even see the full 9PSI, as we now have the car springed to 7.5 in the Wastegate, and are just going to change the spring to a 9psi spring. So we may in fact, only see 7.5-8.5 PSI. and the car will hold up. Now if we beat the shit out of it everywhere it goes, then it will blow up extremely fast.

Having the right parts is one thing, but with the right safe tune, and driving the car responsibly will definitely help things.

On GTO forums, one of the guys went to 10PSI on the same kit, and went out and had a night of racing and fun, just to blow the motor due to driving it like an ass hat. So that just needs to be avoided in our case.

being at high altitude for us, definitely makes it easier on the car, at sea level, there is no damn way the car would handle 9PSI.

And at 18PSI, the cars hold up nicely completely built, granted it all depends on how often you run it that hard. The Automatic Built GTOs have broken the 9s rather easily.

Yea, the whole sea level thing robs your car of like 150hp EASY.

On another note, my car can do 9's with a 2.2" pulley on the s'charger but I go through a rear end or driveshaft almost every month, lol.

yeah going fast cost so damn much, i tell you! lol

the GTO stock at sea level, dynos around 390-400HP. We dynoed freakin 271HP on it all motor, stock.

So we jumped with the twin turbo kit 300HP, overall and the powerband saw a CRAZY increase over stock setting.

I need to find the dyno sheets.

Yea, I dynoed down 682 rwhp without nitrous.. With - over 800, but we couldn't get a good read on the dyno because it spun 5th gear and almost jumped off so I had to lift

The last time I was at the track in May for a test and tune night, I had my car dialed in at 669rwhp, it ran like a champ all night, even have to run a chute on the back because the stupid car ran under 10's every pass.

On my last pass went for a very conservative 4,500rpm launch - dumped the clutch, 60' time was a 1.72, hit third gear and the transmission literally grenaded all over the track.. Pieces of third gear were over an inch into the track's surface. That was a 5,000 dollar racing trans too! Good thing it was still under warranty but damn, if you run anything a lot, it's gonna break a lot.
