Btw, Star Tropics was fucking EPIC!
May CS - Return of the Er-mac
So, like always, the staff (read: Minioger) couldn't get his act together and get this published sooner, but I had the fun opportunity to catch up with MizTian Cage or ErmacVersion1 to chat him up and ask him a few questions. For those of you who don't know, he is the
PS: I couldn't help the Return of the Mac reference in the title
Minioger: So I'm lazy and never have an original first question, so tell the nice people XBA a little bit about yourself.
Miztian: Ok then. I'm a 26 year old gamer who's been gaming since the days of the NES. I grew up battling monsters in Final Fantasy I, slaying ghosts and demons in Gauntlet, and kicking major ass with my yo-yo in StarTropics. Over the years I've just taken my hobby to the next level by having completed certain games numerous times for sheer enjoyment factor. Some of my personal favorites include having beaten Chrono Trigger nineteen times (over SNES, PS1, and DS), Jet Force Gemini eight times, and Fallout 3 six times. My other hobbies include collecting/reading comic books (huge Deadpool geek), watching movies (huge Star Wars geek), watching anime (Air Gear and Gantz for the win), watching wrestling (The Miz, Christian, and Zack Ryder mainly), collecting figures from various animes/movies/comic series, and rooting for my favorite sports teams. The Jaguars, Steelers, and Redskins in the NFL, the Pirates and Braves in the MLB, the Panthers in the NHL (even though they suck these days:/), and DA BULLS in the NBA.
Minioger: Ahh, so you are a fan of the WWE I assume. I used to be big into wrestling myself, you still enjoy checking out the shows?
Miztian: I still watch the WWE, just not nearly as much as I used to. I more so enjoy watching matches containing The Miz, Christian, Zack Ryder, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, and Ted Dibiase. Very entertaining superstars. Though, Chris Jericho trumps them all. Dude, he's one of the nicest people I've ever met. Met him at an FYE across from my Gamestop last year and he willing signed 3 items when he was supposed to only sign 2. Hell of a guy, and I can't wait for him to come back.
Minioger: I always liked Jericho myself, though after not watching it for a few years and he all of a sudden had short hair was just weird to me Anyhow, so I need to know a bit about your gamertag. I could guess about the first part, but why don't you tell us about it?
Miztian: As for my gamertag, it's really a mixture of two things I was really big on back when I first created it. The Ermac part is clearly my favorite Mortal Kombat character! I've used pretty much only him in every MK game he's been in, although I have and still use Li Mei when she's available. As for the Version1 part, well I tried to fit Version1.0, but sadly it wouldn't fit. I got that part from Mattitude Version 1.0 back when he was relevant in the WWE. Now he's just obsolete. His gimmick at the time was by far the best thing he's ever done so I decided to throw the two together and presto, I had a gamertag.
+
Minioger: Whoa, provided me pictures and everything. This is the type of interview I like, the ones where I don't have to find pictures. So with the new MK that came out has Ermac retained his title as your favorite character or has anyone else knocked him off his throne?
Miztian: Well, Ermac is of course my obvious first choice for any MK game that he is in, but I have taken a liking to both Stryker and Mileena in the new game. Absolutely love the shit out of Stryker's enhanced gunshots as well as his X-ray and finisher. I just feel cheap using more than 1 character that can teleport though. Granted there are so many that can and do teleport in this game. (Ermac, Scorpion, Mileena, Raiden, Lui Kang, Quan Chi, Noob) You start to feel dirty after a while.
Minioger: Bah, teleporting is for n00bs. All right so you like MK, I better think of something else to ask about.......oh yeah! Any other non-MK games you are looking forward to this year?
Mizitan: As far as games coming out this year, man, I've got so many that I'm looking forward to. Duke Nukeem Forever, no longer never, is probably my next purchase. Can't wait to throw some 1 dollar bills at some 3D looking strippers while I blast alien pig cops in the face. I've also got Gears of War 3, Catherine, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, and Batman: Arkham City. Although, all bets are off when Battlefield 3 comes out. Can't wait for that game. Battlefield is by far the best online FPS out there in my opinion.
Minioger: Okay, I have to ask, I've seen some pretty weird trailers and screenshots for Catherine? What about it in particular interests you?
Miztian: I'm mostly getting Catherine because it's being made by Atlus and Atlus rarely makes shitty games so, I'm giving it a go! That, and Setsuna talked me into it.
Minioger: Note to self: do not trust Setsuna anymore, Catherine has talking sheep.
I don't know, I'm going to have to wait until you two play that game before I pick it up, and I do like me some Atlus games.....
All right all right. I really have to hold myself back with asking anymore Catherine questions. So from one man to another I have to know..... If you could be any character from FFI, which one would you be and why?
Miztian: Hmmm. If I could be any character from FF1, I'd have to say I'd be a Black Mage. Fighter was cool, but he relies on brute force. Thief just wasn't all that appealing to me, and the Red Mage was decent, but I wouldn't want to be him. As for the white mage, don't even get me started. No self respecting man would want to be the healer. Unless you're that whiny emo bitch Hope from FFXIII. Seriously though, the black mage is a beast. I mean, yeah his physical attacks were weak as shit, but his magic more than made up for it. I mean, just imagine it. You're walking down the street and you see some hood rat trying to jock an old ladies purse and you just snap your fingers and hit him with a lightning bolt. Or you save a school of deaf kids from a burning building by using an ice storm. Black mage is the man, but of course the best black mage of all time, is none other than ViVi from FFIX.
Minioger: I don't know man, the black mage is a bit weak....plus the black mage can't equip shit /random reference. Okay, well I guess I'll give you the fact that ViVi does rock. I just can't see myself wearing one of those hats. So last question, you're the guy who brought us the Movie Screenshot Challenge. Some may praise you, some may curse your name for random screenshots of boats in the middle of the ocean. So why did you decide to bring it here, and did you think it would take off like it did?
Miztian: The Movie Screenshot Challenge was something a buddy of mine over on TPWW.net (a wrestling web forum) started for fun and I thought to myself, "this is a great idea for a fun forum game." I tried it on another site, and it was very unsuccesful, but I blame that on the fact that the site is mostly full of asshats. So I gave it a try here and offered a prize to see how well it would go over and it blew up, BIG! The fact that it's on it's 9th go around absolutely makes me ecstatic. I love that I gave something I enjoyed playing to the community and that they've taken to it and kept it going all this time. It's rare you find something like this to where it keeps people's attention for this long. Now just as a heads up, once version 9 being run by my wonderful buddy from Bawston, xMike, is over, I'll be taking back over for the 10th anniversary of the Challenge. Now I don't want to give anything major away, but the game is really about to change up a bit. The prizes will also be much bigger as well so, if you've never played the Screenshot Challenge before, you definitely want to play during the 10th installment. It'll be worth it.
Minioger Ooh, maybe I will have to put on my thinking hat and try to win that challenge. Well sir, thank you for taking the time to answer all my asinine questions. We look forward to seeing you try to stump us in the next movie challenge, and maybe hearing from you and Setsuna about that freaking weird game Catherine.
