i was watching the news and the ambassador from japan for the us said and i quote
" We had a large earthquake a few years back that was a 7.8 on our scales a 7.9 for us(a) still big though"
did anyone else know that japan's scale was 0.1 behind our own and how is that possible can they really alter a standard scale for measurement ?
and lastly was the big one there dealing with now 8.9 on our scale or theirs because if it was thiers that would make it a 9.0 on ours ???
can anyone shed some light on this whole thing?
oh and just a bit confussed but on the list of top 10 largest earthquakes this one moved from 5th to 7th in 2 hours?????
