Japanese Video Game Sales Down
01/06/10 8:18 am | #1
2009 marked yet another year that the Japanese video game market has shrank. According to Enterbrain's market data research, the game market in japan has fallen 6.9% in overall sales compared to 2008. Hardware Dropped to 13.6%, software fell only 1.8%. Only Four Games topped the 2 Million units sold mark, all four games were exclusive to a Nintendo console. The Wii came in first this year in the console with a whopping 1,975,178 units sold. The Xbox 360 came in third place for a second consecutive year with 331,706 units sold. What could be the cause for Japan's shrinking game market? Godzilla? I think not. It is most likely due to Japanese game developers simply refusing to develop mature games for adults. There is a long standing view in japan that video games are for children. If this stigma is ever broken, the sales may increase once again, slowly but surely, like the rising sun.

lol I got in so much trouble last spring in my comp class because I only cited when I quoted something- she said if you didn't know it going into reading the article, you have to cite it or it's plagiarism, even if all you take are the general thoughts. I was like "Oh, ok" but then it got annoying to cite after every sentence so I kept not doing it and taking the -5 points.
thats exactly it! lol. when i was in college i hated citing after EVERY sentence. lol. i mean, i'll NEVER take credit for someone else's work or ideas but citing gets ridiculous sometimes. i think on one of my final papers i got -10 points for not citing that George Bush was president. i was like seriously? that's common knowledge... and they still wanted me to cite where i found out that george bush was president. lolz

I love Japanesse games but with a $75 price tags and high shipping costs it's tough to drop the cash. Even $45 would be enough to bring in more international buyers. If they don't want the games i'll buy em
