Issues Playing Devil May Cry HD Collection
Starting up the game, I was greeted with a Main Menu and the words "Press Start" across the bottom of the screen. So, I pressed start and...nothing. I pressed A, still at the menu. Pressing start several more times, I was greeted with a opening FMV. "Alright, here we go" we're my first thoughts, until I realized that the opening FMV only appeared because I neglected to press start, or at least that is what my Xbox thought. Many restarts, controller swaps, and even a game install afterwards, frustration was setting in.
Just for a laugh, and recalling reading a similar issue on another forum which I couldn't recall, I decided to try my 120GB Xbox Elite in my bedroom, connected to my paltry 32" Toshiba. Success! The game operated exactly as it should, and I got all of about five minutes into the original before I was pulled away by the arrival of my girlfriend.
Similar issues can be read about on x360a's DMC HD Collection forum. No official word from either Capcom or Microsoft regarding the issue or a possible fix. Some users at x360a have described the issue linked to the IR receiver of Scene It's Big Button Controller, but I cannot recall if that was connected to my 360 slim at the time, or not. So, if you only have access to a 360 Slim, you may want to hold off on picking up the Devil May Cry collection until some more light can be shed on this issue. I will keep you posted if I hear anything else.
EDIT: It seems the issue is related to having the IR sensor of the big button controller connected; I unplugged it from my slim, and DMC is working flawlessly.
