Well, I'm not 100% but I see how 32/40 is 4/5... which is the opposite of 1/5? Haha. I haven't taken Stat in a few years so I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but that's what I see.
And I realize that my observational skills have nothing to do with math .
I also see the 8/40 on the part right above your circled part, which would also equal 1/5.

Ok...so that example it gives is SO confusing...here is the simple way to do it....
We need to know the chance of the responder being male, given that they answered no.
Well there were 40 people who said NO. 8 of them were males.
So 8/40 is the probability because 8 out of 40 people who said no were males.
That fraction simplifies to 1/5 if you divide both the numerator (top #) and denominator (bottom #) by 8.
I'm short on time right now, but I'll look at their example later and try and make sense of it for you.
I got my degree in Mechanical Engineering, minor in mathematics and am now a Math teacher.
