Help from 360 Slim Owners

I have discovered that my slim will not turn on and need help determining the problem before I deal with Microsoft support. The biggest indicator is that my power brick LED is red. Since I have not looked at it before, can anyone tell me if this is bad? I assume power is reaching the brick, but will find out later tonight, after borrowing a friend's power cord, if it is reaching the console. This will tell me if I need a new cord or whole system. Good news is that it's still within a year of purchase, barely, and should be covered. Bad news is that I will not be able to unlock anything else in the GOW 3 beta for the retail release. Any help from any similar problems would be appreciated. Thanks.

I know that the light on the power brick should be glowing amber if it is in working order. It sounds to me as though it is a cable problem. Make sure that the cord to the xbox is plugged into the brick firmly. Otherwise, I would guess that a connector inside your supply has come loose.

Thanx, it says I need a new power cord, which is under warranty! I will still check the console to be sure.

According to xbox.com, it's either not plugged in firmly (check all connections) or it could be the outlet, so try a different one... If neither of those things work, you need a new power supply.
Yeah, that ^
Yeah, that ^
Not only did I try it in another outlet, but I also tried the tv in the first outlet and it worked fine.

After borrowing a friend's power cord, the system still did not turn on. When the cord was plugged into the wall but not the console, the LED was orange for standby. When I plugged it into the console, it turned red for death. This concludes that the power cord is fine, but the system is not.

That sucks, at least it's covered.

Being covered is the important part. Otherwise, it's out of your pocket and THAT sucks.

Really bad, unless you can some how get to work for a short bit and trade it in at Gamestop.

I have now discovered that the problem lies in the wall outlet, not the system. Should be up and running sometime Monday when I move to a new room.

lol you don't have another outlet in the room your in now, you have to change rooms for an outlet?
I tried the 2 in my dorm room. My friend still says he will let me use his room sometime... Anyway, should be good Monday either way.

You need to pick up a really long extension wire. Problem solved, except the tripping hazard you have running through your room.
