So, I've been debating on paying for Gamefly a lot lately and almost came to a conclusion. $22.95 a month is a little pricey(for a jobless high school student) but I think it's a good investment if I want to get more serious about gaming.

I have some questions(some may be obvious or stupid) but hear me out :rofl:

- I heard you can only rent 2 games at a time max, yes/no?
- If I do get Gamefly, would it be smarter to get the 10 day trial before hand, or is it not needed if I purchase it?

Also any reviews would be great

i love gamefly first of all i will never get rid of it..its like 25 cents or so to add more games you can take out..i dont think think a trial is needed..i know people that game maybe game once or twice a week and still love gamefly..i got gamefly because i was buying alot alot of games and spending alot of money and id stop playing them after a day or two..also because if im not sure about a game ill just gamefly it and try it out

I think you can go up to 4 now, but have to have been a customer for x number of months.

I would do the trial, frankly they seem to try harder to get you the games you want when you are in a trial thing.

I'm for gamefly, about half the time. Sometimes they ship you exactly what you want, promptly. At plenty of other times I had 10-15 games on my list and it took them a 3 days to a week to send me any game (note this is AFTER they received it, so it doesn't count shipping time back to them). I've been told you can get exactly what games you want including new releases, but I don't like having to play a game with a place to get what I want....but that's just me.

Personally I find Gamefly incredibly slow. Part of that is because I live in the midwest and there is no shipping center anywhere near here (My games come from PA). I'm on the 2-game plan and usually I'm lucky to get 4 games in a month even though I finish most in a couple days. As far as getting the games you want, I've kept track and since I started over a year ago I'm at 36% of the games I recieve are in my top 5.

All that being said it is still cheaper than buying everything as well as renting locally (not by much).

I ended up getting Gamefly tonight. I cant be renting anymore like I used to, and so I am gonna test my luck on Gamefly for the month. its only 12 bucks for the first month. I put Binary Domain and SSX in my queue, just to see if i might get lucky tomorrow.

Yeah, my only worry was the speed of receiving the games. Like Junior said the price is only $12 for the first month, so I think I'm going to get it. Hopefully it is quick and well worth the money!

Yeah I also resubscribed tonight off of Juniors deal he sent me for a free month, I've had Gamefly like 4 different times over the years and cancelled for various reasons, the last 2 times I cancelled was due to them pissing me off and NEVER sending me anything in my top 5 que on release days even though I always had 1-2 open slots out of the 4 games I had out a time, I'm hoping they solved this since I bitched about it in 2 different surveys after cancelling twice...

Yeah I've heard a lot of problems now for not receiving desired games. Hopefully they've changed their ways like you said. I can understand where the frustration would come, especially when you had slots open :baffled:

I don't ever remember seeing an option to upgrade for $.25 to take out one more game at a time. I've been a member for a while and I started out with the 2 games for $12 then bumps you up to $23 or something per month. I've got the 3 game plan now and its bumped up to $30. I pesonally like gamefly though. About 75% of the time I do get games in my top 5 but one thing I've liked most about it is that they have something (sorry for being vague, can't remember what is called atm) where when your post office receives your game after you have put it in the mail, Gamefly will ship your next game without ever having Gamefly actually receive your sent game. I've noticed this doesn't work on all games, just some. I also rent from Blockbuster; better deal on games (3 for $20) but the selection is quite limited and you don't get new releases right away.

That's interesting... and yeah, Blockbuster is fairly cheap, but have very little quantity of games.

I think the 2 game plan fits my criteria, I don't need that many games because I only play about 3 days a week. 4 at most. If blockbuster had as much variety as Gamefly does I wouldn't even need it. But Gamefly's variety of games and decent monthly price is what sways me. Even if the delivery isn't the quickest..

The upgrade is for $.25 extra per DAY, so its like $7.50 to go from 2 games to 3 games (so its just shy of 30 a month for 3), I don't know what 4 was, I never stuck around long enough...

see i never have a problem with gamefly being slow because im from albany ny and my games get shipped out of PA takes them 2 days to recieve and 2 days to deliver my buddy was in the army and stationed in kansas his games were getting shipped out of texas and he said they were slow

It's also only worth it if your gonna play the games in a timely manner. I'm always shaking my head because my friend Dave will hold on to a Multi-player or RPG game from GF for two-three months at a time when he could of just bought the frackn' game for 20 bucks. At least you can earn points to earn discounts if you decide to buy it from GF. They can have some pretty good deals.
