what are some of your favorite developers and game franchises, and why?
I'll start off, and please mark your posts if you include any spoilers, don't be THAT guy
Rockstar for me has always put out top notch games well worth the money you invest in them. I think the only one I haven't enjoyed since I started playing their games back in 2001 was probably table tennis, but that's just because I thought it was dumb, but not a bad game. I cant name a game they have put out that didn't have an excellent story, plenty of things to do, and quality dlc that's done right. rockstar just doesn't seem to make a mistake in my eyes.
Bioware is another developer who has continued to impress me, despite ME 3's atrocious ending IMO. The mass effect series really put sci if RPGs on the map as quality games that could also sell in what some would consider a niche or geek market. I also enjoyed both dragon ages, and I am one of probably 2 people who actually enjoyed dragon age 2 MORE than the original game lol. they have great voice acting and back stories, and solid gameplay. I'm interested to see what bioware does next after dragon age 3, since mass effect trilogy has concluded.
Bethseda is like the polar opposite of how bioware makes games. Biowares games for the most part have free roam, but very limited in scope of what you can do, whic makes them very story oriented games which is great. On the other hand Bethseda makes open world RPGs and aside from the tutorial, you can go and do whatever you want. you can do side quests the whole time and barely touch the story, you can just do the story, or you can just wander around and kill stuff and whatever quests are close and you feel are worth doing. it can definitely be overwhelming to be dropped in to a world and be like k have fun, but that's also the charm of Bethseda games, they may be buggy in the beginning but boy are they fun. elder scrolls and the fallout series have been some amazing games, and I wanna see what's next!!
Aside from games from the developers I just listed, I'm gonna talk about some game franchises I enjoy.
Metal Gear Series: you could literally tell me hideo is making a game and I'll go out and reserve it, idc what it is I'm buying it lol. The metal gear series is my favorite game series of all time, I absolutely love the convoluted story, awkward controls, long cutscenes, you name it I enjoy it. Even issues I have in other games franchises I Love in the MG series, and I couldnt tell ya why.
