First posted here, it has been announced that Connect 4x4, Jenga, and Pictureka will be added to the set. Each game will include an original and remixed modes, of course, along with leaderboards and multiplayer both on and offline. Before I get into specifics, lets look at the games a little closer:
Connect 4x4 involves crashing Jeep Wranglers into each other in such a way that they remain connected...bad pun? Alright, fine, be that way. What it does do is double the grid spaces and participants of the original Connect 4, as well as including varying game modes such as "Super Squares", which involves power-ups dotted within the board. Jenga is the basic game we all grew up with; removing blocks without tipping the sides. This virtual version will also include new modes, including "Chance Play", which adds challenges that players need to complete, such as removing red blocks or defusing bombs. That's right, Jenga has never been more dangerous! And then there is Pictureka; aside from being a mash up of the words picture and eureka, Pictureka is a visual hide and seek game where players race each other to see who has the best memory and keenest observation skills. Sounds...interesting. Of course, everyone's favorite Humanoid Potato will once again host the fun.
These games seem to be an inclusion of games from the Wii-only retail release of Family Game Night 2, which features Jenga, Pictureka and several other family games. Specifics are not readily available, so as of right now there is no way to know if these games will add to the overall achievements of Family Game Night, start a whole-nother retail set of family games (i.e. Family Game Night 2), or be solo XBLA games, though I highly doubt the latter. I am curious to see how Jenga will be implemented; while it seems a good fit for Wii, I'm not sure how steady hands can be gauged on the 360. Hopefully we will get some more details regarding achievements, pricing, and availability as the warmer weather sets in.
