Thanks for the update!!
E3 2012 Day 3 RoundUp
Alright, so E3 2012 Day 3 has come and again. I apologize for the tardiness of today (yesterday's) RoundUp, but I promise that it was worth the wait! Lets see what hit the presses yesterday:
-Tecmo Koei announced Dead or Alive 5 and Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2. DOA5 will be the first in the series to be developed without any input of the series original creator, Itagaki, as well as being the first in the series to release across multiple platforms simultaneously.
-Dead Island is poised to receive a sequel, and despite rumors stating that the follow up to the hit title would be called "Dead World", it is in fact named Dead Island: Riptide. Details are very scarce at the moment, but Dead Island's Facebook page states that "An extensive reveal reveal of the thrilling new perils that players can expect from this new entry to the Dead Island franchise is planned for later this summer."
-Gearbox treated eager fans with some new Borderlands 2 screenshots.
-XCOM: Enemy Unknown, a turn-based strategy reboot, gives a pleasant surprise in the form of some really nice screens and a launch trailer. The game can be had on October 9th of this year.
-2K graced us with some new screens from Spec Ops: The Line. Releasing at the end of the month, the Spec Ops screens showed off both the single player and co-op sections of the game.
-Info on Namco Bandai's upcoming Star Trek game was teased. The enemy players will face is The Gorn. The game's storyline will focus o nKirk and Spock and Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, actors from J.J. Abram's 2009 hit will be doing the voice work! And my girlfriend just got more excited than I though possible regarding video games. Look for Star Trek early next year!
-A fighting game that I am pretty excited about, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, had some new screens as well. The followup will feature more than 50 fighters, new moves and combos, and will be out on September 11th.
-Dragon Ball Z Kinect also got a trailer and some screens. The game, releasing this October, will feature around 50 characters from the DBZ universe, and allows players to perform real DBZ moves gesturally. Does that mean I'm going to have to stand there with my arms raised up in Spirit Bomb form for a length of about ten episodes?
-Some new screens for Aliens: Colonial Marines also surfaced. The screens look promising, but Gearbox hasn't had much luck with developing games in limbo for a while (Duke Nukem Forever, anyone?) Time will tell how this one will play out, but it does look good. Its due out February 12th of next year, provided there is no more delays.
-Arkedo Studios, the devs who brought us some great XBL Indie Games like Jump!, Swap!, Pixel!, and Slash! are stepping up to the big leagues and developing Hell Yeah! Wrath of the White Rabbit for XBLA. A a cartoony side-scroller dripping with comedy blood and guts, it certainly looks interesting.
-Virtual Fighter 5: Final Showdown offered up some more trailers. The game is an update to the previously released Virtual Fighter 5, featuring new character costumes, animations and content.
-Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Sega's followup to their original kart game, is due out later this year. It offers up an enhanced online multiplayer mode, competetive battle arenas and more, allowing the huge roster of SEGA characters to take to the land, water, or even air!
-The really good looking Hitman: Absolution received some new screenshots. Out in November, this one is shaping up to be Agent 47's best looking romp, yet!
-A trailer for Square-Enix's Sleeping Dogs surfaced. The trailer is quite brutal, and the game looks pretty awesome, so be on the lookout for that this August.
-Screenshots and a trailer showcased Portal co-creator Kim Swift's upcoming puzzle platformer, Quantum Conundrum. Due out this summer, this one should not be missed!
-Treyarch treated FPS fans to a behind the scenes trailer of Black Ops II.
-The Amazing Spiderman received a trailer. Coinciding with the release of the upcoming Spidey reboot by the same name, Spiderman games have been hit or miss, and this one will be no different.
-Old school Tony Hawk fans will be hit with nostalgia at the announcement of Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD. An HD remake, the game brings back PS1's Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 in full HD.
-Transformers: Fall of Cybertron got a new trailer, and it featured the Dinobots! Following up on the quite successful War for Cybertron, FoC looks very nice.
-007 Legends also received a trailer. The premise of the game is to take six separate James Bond movies and tie them together into one spanning narrative. Recent 007 games haven't really done too well, so you may want to wait before picking up this one. The game is set to release this October.
-More screenshots were released for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. The game is due out next year, and hopefully that will leave me with enough time to play the first one!
-My favorite game from E3, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, was also treated to some fancy HD screenshots. Raiden takes center stage on this one and, while I never got to play MGS4, I'm impressed by the transformation of the whiny MGS2 protagonist. Whatever happened between MGS2 and now, Raiden has taken on the look and feel of Gray Fox, that B.A. ninja from the original Metal Gear Solid. MGS: Revengeance is out early next year.
Well there you have it: Everything you could need to know about E3 2012 Day 3. I apologize again for the delay, but all this awesome news makes up for it! Right...right?
