Around the mid 90's with the Super Mario World on the SNES. Probably one of the most rewarding games to beat but the end boss was weaksauce...

The first game I ever played was Super Mario Brothers 3 in probably, '95 maybe? I was only two but hell, it counts.
As for my favorite games...
NES - Super Mario Brothers 3 and RBI Baseball
Sega Genesis - I can't remember the names but there was on game that had this star that was a big character. And another that had a bunch of random sports in one game, like surfing, hackey sack, skateboarding, roller skating.
SNES- I only had one game for it and it was a baseball game
N64 - Probably Pokemon Stadium or Road Rash, I think that was the name
PSone - Crash Bash
Gamecube - Pikmin
PS2 - MVP Baseball 2005
Xbox - Fuzion Frenzy
PSP - NBA 07 and Daxter
360 - Call of Duty 4
then of course for Game Boys whatever Pokemon game was in at the time.

I started gaming on the original Atari. I remember Centipede and Milipede, and on PC there was the original Pitfall.
Favorites include some that are already on the list
Metroid series
Zelda series
Castlevania series
Metal Gear series
On Arcade I liked X-Men, TMNT (which I have on my 360 thanks to Arcade), The Simpsons, Alien vs Predator, Silent Scope, Time Crisis.

My brother and I started out back in the day with our ColecoVision. All our cousins and friends had Atari but I loved our ColecoVision with those wacky controllers with the number pads that we never used for anything. Some of my favorite titles were Time Pilot, Donkey Kong and especially Donkey Kong Jr. I'll admit we had the Smurfs game and it was the shit. We played the helll outta all the classic Atari titles whenever we had the chance. Does anyone remember owning or a friend owning a working copy of the Raiders of the Lost Ark game for Atari. Every Raiders cartridge our friends or cousins owned never worked.
We finally graduated to the NES with Mario 3 and Tecmo Super Bowl and Super Base Wars as my all time faves. We had some lame ass titles like Platoon, Rocket Ranger and Win Lose or Draw. We even had the lame but fun Three Stooges game. When we got our Sega Genesis I pretty much just played sports games like the RBI Baseball and Super Tecmo Bowl and the Joe Montana football games (first ever in game announcer). EA's first NHL game was the best, you could start a fight after every whistle. The old EA Lakers vs Celtics games were the best basketball games. One of my best friends growing up was an only child and his parents bought him every damn game you could think of for Genesis, he even had the Michael Jackson Moonwalker game.
Playstation broughts favorites like the Madden games, Tenchu Stealth Assassins and Civilization 2. Conker's Bad Fur Day and Goldeneye were my favorite Nintendo64 titles. I was a SOCOM nut for the longest time on my PS2 before trading all my PS2 shit in when I got my 360. SOCOM was the shit, my first real online gaming experience. I was in a Clan with a bunch of good dudes. We played so much and got to know each other so well that we organized a trip to Panama City FL for a week of partying. It was great.
