Futuristic Warfare has been something that will always be debated in gaming. Section 8 proves to be yet another chapter of this sense. With multiplayer online gaming, a story mode, and really nothing else, but to prove you can make an almost dedicated online FPS title that is addicting.
Section 8 throws you right into the action with a couple of different modes. You have your instant action, which like the name suggests, puts you into a match with a team and you have to kill or be killed while completing certain unlocked objectives that become active after a certain criteria has been met. There is also a Multiplayer mode, which allows you to select all your options, ranging from a ranked match, to the bot difficulty, to the map, etc. Then there is Corde's Story which follows Alex Corde of the 8th Armored Infantry who is up against the Arm of Orion.
The graphics of the game are pretty decent, and allow for fast gameplay, especially when your going at it online. I really didnt have any problems with Frame Rate and i was able to attack at full will when I wanted to. The landscapes are okay, the buildings designs or detailed okay but the most detailed out of anything would be the weapons (as seems to be the case with any FPS) All in all, not bad at all, and VERY manageable.
The sound and music department fit the game well, and the voice overs are done nicely and will ease your mind while playing. I haven't yet thought a sound was out of place for this game, so I am pleased with that. The sounds of the weapons fire, explosions, free falling to the planet, etc are all on par and sound as expected which is a really good thing.
The controls are actually decent. You have to learn your button maps at first, so that you know how to jump, fire, lock-on, etc. but it takes maybe a game or two online to get them down and be comfortable.
Replay value of Section 8 is actually high due to the fact of the online multiplayer realm. A lot of the achievements are also based online, and range from certain kills to a weapon, team based, objective based and so on. Hell my first online game I went 23 Kills - 4 Assists - 2 Deaths which really wanted me to play more and get those achieves. But if you get some friends and get a team going, I could see this lasting folks a good while.
All in all the game is a good rental, and it wouldn't be a bad idea too purchase either. It does exceptionally well, and plays smooth while delivering the online play.
