Is there a possible reason to why my battery pack is messed up? I have another controller with AA batteries that has lasted weeks; I need to plug in the charger every day with the other controller. Btw, I only charge when it gets low, if that helps.

Rechargable Controller problems

About a month ago I bought the red rechargeable controller. At first it worked fine, but now the battery life takes only three to four hours to run out. It also takes a short amount of time to charge. It only takes thirty minutes to an hour.

well the problem u are probably having is from the start. MOST rechargeable batteries have a built in memory. if u charge it all the time it will get programed that it is dead at this point and takes this long to recharge. add that to the fact that batteries can only be recharged a certain amount of times until they wont hold a charge anymore. the best advice i can give is to not charge the battery until it shuts off. unfortunately it sounds like the damage is already done for u. i have a similar problem with my controller. it just never seems to charge at all. ill plug it in and when i come to my system the next day its still dead.
EDIT. also when u buy a new battery. fully charge it before u use it. and then use it until it shuts off and then repeat.

Yah, the batteries in the recharge packs are just like the ones in the cordless phones nowadays. Let them go COMPLETELY dead, and then you can get a full recharge. If you continue to put it on the charger when it doesn't need it, the battery life will be greatly diminished.
As orange says though, completely charge it your first time. Go to completely dead, recharge FULLY, and then repeat!!
Alright. So when I get a new one, I should not use it until it's completely charged, even though it comes with a little bit of a charge?

I went out (over a year ago) and got one of those off-brand sets with a charger and two rechargeable battery packs. It's worked great for me. One battery lasts me an average of almost a week of playing time and I just cycle back & forth between the two.
