So I was talking to some friends of mine, friend's that do not play video games, and they were saying that people that play games do not have any lives.

Saying that it takes 40+ hours on some games to complete them, and I can understand that with some of these RPG's that are out there. But I told them that, with me anyway, I balance my social life, and family life....with video games. Sometimes I wake up early and play a little bit before I go to work, or before my wife wakes up on the weekend.

But anyway, the point of this thread is this....How do you guys balance out your Social/Family life with Video Games. I don't only want people that are not married or who aren't over the age of 13 to answer this question. I'm interested in hearing how the older gamers, those who are married and have full time jobs, balance there love for games, with there life.

Like I just mentioned above, during the weekday if there is a game I like, I might wake up an hour or so early to play before I go to work, and on the weekend I wake up early before my wife gets up. Sometime's I play while she is playing pogo, or not doing anything. But right now we only have one television so I try to minimize me playing while she is around just out of consideration of her. I usually just game when I am the only one awake, haha.

DITTO! I agree with you 200%. If I really like a game I will either get up earlier or stay up just a bit later to get a bit farther and then go to work (which takes up all my social time during the week anyway) Weekends I hang out with friends and don't game unless they want to.

Yeah or on a day that I don't get to do something social (with my love or family!) I'll just play to pass time! It's fun to do late at night or early in the morning.

Well not really to complete the story, but just to get all of the achievements, I saw a dude on xbox360achievements who had 113 completions under his belt, I saw almost every RPG that "I" knew of on the list and kind of figured that it had to take up quite a bit of his time. So it reminded me of the conversation that I had with my friends. So I was just curious as to how people balance it out.

Once I get that second TV though, it won't be an issue, I'll play whenever I want, for as long as I want...lol...I'll just go to the other television and the wife can keep the one she is on already, lol

I don't game as much as i used to. I only play 1-2 hours a day now IF im in the mood, i dont even play some days. I'm thinking I'll play a lot more when Madden 10 comes out, but school is going to start 3 days after the game comes out so maybe not :( If i have time during the week and am in the mood then i'll play. Fri/sat i go out with my girlfriend, and sunday is usually a family day.

I play 2-3 after worlk each day (work 4p-12a) sleep (4a-12p or2p) wake up due what I have to do, hang out with the broad let her bitch about things (maybe lunch if she wants) and go to work. Days off I see what my friends are doing but it seems every night they are going to the bar to get smashed, yeah thats fun everynow and then but every night? It usually always ends with them bitching about life and how it suck! (Sound like the social life I want, not to mention how expensive it is) Me and the broad try to do thing on the weekend but her friend are the college partier types. Don't get me wrong I could do that but I still feel a little out of place being about ten year older than them all.
I mean my life is a pretty set routine- work, eat, videogame, and sleep during the week. Eat, do something if the broad wants, and sleep.
The broad doesn't like videogame so she says, "She doesn't really get it", but she loves movies so really whats the difference?
Me and her are on two total different time schedules but we make it work and isn't that what some people would consider a good quality of life, I know it is to me!
And yeah she hates being called The Broad!
Thats all I got punching out.

I play video games constantly. Luckily my girl is a gamer as well, so all is well. She started out being a casual player but after a few years around me I think it is safe to say she is a hardcore gamer now.

I used Fable 1 as a gateway-game to get her into the wonderful world of RPGS. She was already playing some pretty horrific games on the PC so It wasn't that hard of a sell. :)

Now she games almost as much as I do and still maintains her WOW account even though mine is long gone (R.I.P.).
