So people say that Lost Planet is soon to be the Gears killer. I played the demo (because it is contraversial) and i didnt see how it was gonna beat Gears of War. Anyone want to bother explaining why it is gonna be better?

I haven't tried the demo, but I honestly don't think that any game coming out for the 360 any time soon is going to kill Gears. GoW is like the Halo 2 of the 360, and the only thing that may even come close to matching it is Halo 3. I'm not a big fan of Halo 2 myself, but it is the biggest regular XBOX game, and GoW has dethroned it as the most played XBL title. Gears may give developers something to shoot for, but I don't think it's gonna be matched anytime soon.

I've tried the Lost Planet Multiplayer Demo, and it ain't Gears, sorry. It is slow, the walking and the aiming, aside from the occasional grappling hook shenanigans and getting into the VSes (mechs/vehicles), there's just running and shooting. Also, the camera in the multiplayer demo seems to have been pulled back some distance when compared to how close to the action your character was in the first Offline demo, I hope that this is not a permanent change that Capcom has made to the single player campaign as well, 'coz that would suck.
Regardless, I plan on buying this game, but as far as it dethroning Gears, no chance.
One small note on Halo 3, have you guys thought about the implications if say Bungie added some kind of cover mechanic to Halo 3? There's still that yet to be revealed secret about the functionality of the X button on the 360 pad. I just hope it is not a dive/dodge/get into cover button ala GoW. Because Halo won't be Halo anymore, we would have to call Galo or something.

Oh sorry, haven't gotten around to read all of the threads, I've read a lot of them, but not all of them.
Yeah, cover in Halo 3 would be sinful. As for your other persona in your friend's xbox well, if I were you I probably would've kept that one all to myself.

When I originally played the E3 demo I thought it was a good game and had some potential, then I played the multiplayer demo and I think it is going nowhere. No way does it compare to GoW.

After finally playing Gears of War yesterday, I would have to say that the Lost Planet demo is no way better than Gears. Like an earlier posted committed on that the aiming is slow. I really like the cover system that Gears uses. I would say that Lost Planet is no way a Gears killer.
