It's All Over

Phew..

It's all over and the new server is up and running. Some people may still be getting the old server when they visit xboxohio.com. That one has been turned off now, and those people will just have to wait it out till it comes back up. This whole thing was a little hectic and I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

I was looking and was wondering did you go to the free php server or from? I was just curious cause i use php on my site as well and i like the way it is set up and maybe you can assist me on some code issues i need to change.My php is not free so i can change anything pm me when you get a chance.

Looks like a very smooth transition. Waiting for the DNS updates is the longest part. Since the old one was shutdown that will just give the plain old page cannot be displayed. However it was still up, I'm sure you could have put a simple page up stating that This is the old site, please keep checking back when you see the site you are at the new server or something to the verbage.

I was on a PersonalSites.org server running PHP 5. Now I'm on a BlueHost server running PHP 4.4.3. Sure I can help you with code.

Yea, I programmed the new site to send my phone a message as soon as someone visited it and the server host was "xboxohio.com". It worked kind of well, but I guess since DNS doesn't clear for everyone at the same time I got a whole bunch of messages when it wasn't pointing to the new server yet for me. Once it was up for me, I closed the old site with a message explaining, backed up the database, imported it here, and opened this site.

Well on both of my computers, one is a Mac and one is a PC, it runs slow at times.

No, you were just online at the wrong time. I've been making major revisions to the site code. Most of the revisions are now happening on a test copy of xboxohio.
