I decided to try Hexic HD again today but it is still really hard for me to get star flowers and black pearls and then to even dream of making a flower out of pearls. Anyone have any help or suggestions?

yeah I wouldn't have the game anymore except it was preloaded on the new elite I bought but yeah as of now I find it fun but very frustrating.

The Lady pretty much summed it up! It is all about patience and a little foresight. She is absolutely right about making black pearls as soon as you have 6 stars. I won't even think about making a black pearl until I have AT LEAST 9 or 10 silver stars. Use those stars together to make other stars by piece sharing.
When making stars, look for places where 3 or 4 hexes start to make the bottom of a starflower and then combo in the rest of the pieces. Be sure to take notice of which way you spin your hexes. Sometimes you must go clockwise and sometimes it's required to go the other way.
If you are having a difficult time seeing possible combos, or trouble comboing in a fashion that allows pieces to fall where you need them, go to marathon mode and try to practice making flowers where no new pieces fall in.
In the end, this game becomes more of a strategy game. You just need the patience to plan your moves before you make them. If you have any questions or I wasn't clear on any of my tips, feel free to message me any time!
