Guitar Hero 5 Problems

Ok, so right now, 90% of the time whenever I try to play the game, I get a Disc read error. It will load to the main menu and then the error pops. The times that I can get the game to load normal, it will play for maybe 20 minutes before it gets a disc read error. I have installed the game to my HD and I still get the same problem. I know its not my xbox because I don't have the problem with any other game. I just played Gears 2 for like 4 hours without a problem.

Anybody else having this problem? I have searched other forums and I don't seem to be the only one having this problem. But noone seems to know why this is happening or how to fix it. I bought the game from GuitarHeroStore.com, so exchanging it for another copy isn't really an option right now. Though people have said they had multiple copies and still had the same problem.

I contacted guitar hero support and am waiting to hear from them. Hopefully I hear from them tomorrow.

Man this angers me.

Then we could "sticky" it.

That sucks though and another reason I'm glad I haven't bought this game.

Probably just a batch of bad discs... Could be happening for many reasons but if it's not just you, then it's definitely the game. My suggestion for a cheap and hopeful fix would be to go to blockbuster rent GH5 and if their copy works put yours back in the case and return it, if it has the same problem, keep going back and say it doesnt work, do this until you get a disc that works, only fix I can offer, hope that helps.

Also, all games that are purchased have a 90 day warranty period by the manufacturer so hopefully you can just send it to them for a replacement...

Hmmm.... I never thought about that. I am going to wait until I hear back from support. If its not an answer I like, I just may have to do that.

Don't they put some kind of stamp or sticker on their discs with the serial #?

just make sure that if there's a sticker on the disc you rent to take it off and put it on your disc for the return, a blow dryer works best to heat up the sticky side of the sticker to peel off with no ripping so it doesnt look suspicious

My Blockbuster doesn't put anything on their discs. Actually, none of the rental places around here do. So it would be simply swapping discs.

Take the disk and boil it in hot water for 10 to 15 seconds, pat dry, and then give it a try. Ive done that before to demo disks and they work like a charm. If you do this, don't panic when the disk curls up, just dip the disk in for 10 seconds, and then let it cool a minute or 2 and then pat dry.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but in situations like this (with a new game) 99% of the time it is the XBOX which is to blame and not the disc.

If you notice this happening more and more lately then it's a good indication that your XBOX wants to retire and be replaced.

Luckily Box numero 8 is still holding strong for me, but the other 7 weren't so lucky.

It's not not just my xbox it does it in. I have two xbox's and tried them both. Plus I tried the xbox's of three of my friends. Same problem. None of our xbox's have ever had a problem with any other game.
