Hahahahahaha Yep, I heard some stuff like that from my great Grandfather when I was a kid. I would stay with him every other weekend and the would tell the best stories of when he was my age. He passed away on my 13th birthday at age 100. I miss him.

yeah...I still hear things like this from my grandma and grandpa. It's sad how a lot of kids now a days take things for granted, back then they would have never guessed about the things we have now.
I remember I never stayed inside during the summer time, I was always outside playing with neighborhood friends, and my parents never worried about me. Everything was all good back in the day, and yeah I am only 23, but I remember a lot about how things were.
Sorry for your loss man, at least you know he is in a better place and not having to see what this world is coming to.

Growing your own fruit and vegetables isn't worth it, trust me I lived on a farm all my life and I still work on one. Prices of seeds, sets of onions, fertilizer (unless you wanna get your own producer, so to speak), plus you have to waste your water of your cistern to water them and then waste gas to go fill up your cistern or pay to have it delivered. Not worth the hassle it brings.

I think they are talking about on smaller scale. I have a garden and its not that much trouble to keep it up.
