Going worldwide?

A few months before the release of the New Xbox America we posted a poll on the homepage asking what you guys thought about expanding Xbox America into the rest of the world.

While not a majority, 45% of you responded to the poll saying you did not want Xbox America to expand into other regions, and that the restriction to North America was what you liked. 23% didn't care either way, and 32% wanted to see Xbox America expand. While 197 people responded to the poll, this number only represents 1.85% of Xbox America's current membership, but likely the more active membership.

Anyways, these numbers discourage me from broadening Xbox America to take on more people. I'd like to get a little discussion going about why you answered the way you did, or if you didn't answer, what you think about it. There are some possibilities that don't compromise Xbox America's closed, local nature, but I'd like to exhaust this avenue first.

I do not remember if I responded to the poll or not, I think I put up that I did not care one way or the other.

The only thing that I do not want to see happen if XBOX America goes worldwide is we lose that sense of chill. What I mean by that is how we all seem to be more of a family rather than just some people running around a forum. This is the only forum that I am active in and I love every minute of it. A place where you won't get flamed every time you post something just because, you spelled something wrong, or someone didn't agree with what you posted. Yes we have the occasional time when people don't see eye to eye but those will happen....But I don't want to see this site turn into another teamxbox.com, that's the whole reason i left that site because it was filled with nothing but dbags....Does any of this make sense? ha-ha

i don't like the idea of expanding out into the entire world, it just doesn't sound like a good idea at this time, we need a lot more input on the community's part.

what i would like to see instead of expanding upon this site, is more participation on the community (Members) side of the site.

i know there are thousands of people that have signed up and just use this site just as a mark to see what they rank in their state, and i despise that.

i want to see a lot more participation on everyone part, which include more active threads and daily events, and tournaments on the weekends to promote more people that have signed up to this site to be more active in the community.

i think that we should also think of some good ideas on how to promote this site, and show all of its great features and the great community along with it.

yes kidd cause i have a similar situation. i was on a forum w/ people from all over (some people in uk, across america, a canadian or two, a guy from albania, like 2 germans, etc etc for like 6 other countries or something) and they were such D-Bags....they flamed me when i became mod "because i wasnt very well known on the forum" (please note i had 1k+ posts....) and yet the week before the forum was complaining they needed a new staff cause they were tired of "the same, popular members getting modded" now one dude on there was cool. i dont talk to him much, but he was pretty cool. he was the admin.

but on here, i feel like its just an online family. you can express yourself in ANY way you want, and most people will either agree, disagree and tell why, or the occasional disagree and start an argument...but then again, an irl family does the same thing too. i could come on here and rant about having a forking terrible day. but on the other site, i could do that, and id get responses like "well then go cry to your mommy", "who are you again?" or the usual "gtfo u stupid noob..."

but expanding it would just be pointless cause it wouldnt be the same anymore. thats really the best way (imo) to put it....

Yeah ninja I agree with that too...I would be more active in the XBA nights, but as everyone knows just about, I lack the internet just yet.....but just wait until I get it back, i'll be a boosting fool....lol

Yeah I would not want to see this go worldwide because like everyone said we are like a family I've been an active poster for over two years and would hate to leave because there would be all these dicks on the site. So no keep Xba like this I love it!

I'm with ya on this JN, although I'm not against expanding per se, I would like to see more current members getting more involved. I know I signed up to the site and it was at least 2 or 3 months before I even made one post or got involved at all. Hopefully we can make that a focus first then add on the additional world content

Yea, I forgot how I voted back then, but I don't think this is a good idea. Aside from what everyone else has already mentioned, the site itself is going through so much right now to warrant an over-haul in order to gain a few members. And I mean, I could go on and on about the pros and cons of this idea, but let me just sum it up like this:

Who can fuck with the name Xbox America? Who I ask you? On top of that, we got sweet initials that roll off of your tongue; XbA. Besides, we have one of the coolest logos. I mean, I guess you could use the round Xbox logo and add some continents to make it look like a world, but that just wouldn't be the same.
