WOW...I hate to resurrect such an old/dead thread...but I can't believe nobody commented on the movie (I guess that in-and-of-itself was a reflection of how bad it was.) I just recently watched it on DVD.
The movie was not what I expected of a Steve Carell movie. It wasn't stupid funny like his other movies ('The 40 Year Old Virgin' was his best flick so far...although I liked his role in Anchorman). It was more of a romantic comedy minus the comedy. I'm glad I only rented it...but I definately wouldn't recommend it unless you're just a diehard Steve fan.

Really? I liked it. I agree it wasn't like his other movies, but I thought it was more classy. The humor didn't stick out like a sore thumb, it was more subtle.

I guess I was more disappointed because I was expecting a gut-laughable, slap-stick, stupid comdey (ala Will Ferrel), but instead it wasn't. It just seemed to be a curious role for Steve to take (he's definately better in the stupid funny role IMO).
