A story of a standbyer

OKay so i was playing battlefield bad company's campaign so i didnt want to be bothered so i unplugged my wireless router on the back of my xbox

Then i got bored alone and plugged it in and signed into live
Got onto halo and went into mlg playlist
PLayed game one and thought someone was standbying and then
i played a 2nd game and realized it was me!

So now i ask you how do i fix this?
Im up for just about anything

standby: when you make all the other characrters lag out ex blackscreen
but you okay to run the flag kill the person standing still etc.

how do you "standby" anyways? ive heard peopole do it, but ive never realy known how or wtf it is

its when a person manually pushes the "stand by" button on their modem for the purpose of being somewhat invincible for a few seconds while playing multiplayer online games. the servers wont recognize that you disconnected if its only for a very short few seconds, so you are "frozen" on everybody's screen but yours and free to warp,hide, shoot the crap out of someone else, etc. while they are defenseless. not every ICP uses a modem with a stand by button but i assume unplugging your ethernet cable while online and reinserting it is pretty much the same thing; try unplugging your router,modem,and ethernet cables and leave them unplugged for a few minutes and then plug them back in one at a time starting with the power cables first and the ethernet cables next and it should reset your stuff.

I've never heard that called stand-bying. Tapping, yes. I can do it on PC games like Soldier Front but didn't know you could do it on consoles...

No one has ever been stand-by'ed before? Precious souls. That is why I had to stop playing halo 2 and halo 3 altogether.

hmm...that could explain some of my random deaths that occasionally happen. it is usually when theres like one really laggy dude on either teams. and then sometimes its cause my connection temporarily gets bad >->

You can actually splice a toggle switch into your ethernet cable to cut your connection for a second.

You are the biggest loser on earth if you have to do this to win. Period.

i didnt do it while online i was off and plugged it in to come online
