1 vs. 100 Cancelled — No season three
Today, Microsoft announced that "1 vs. 100" has been cancelled. There will be no season three.
According to the Microsoft press release, the cancellation is a step to take the genre to new levels. Dave McCarthy, General Manager of Microsoft Game Studios said "When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept. We’re very proud of the ‘1 vs 100’ team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we’ve learned to future programming." The "1 vs 100" team is now working on new projects, which presumably will follow the same basic idea as "1 vs 100." It's unknown when we might see these new projects.
Considering the popularity of the series, it seems likely that Microsoft has big plans for the genre.
At one point in its beta season, the popular show attracted over 114,000 participants.
