Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Decade Duels Coming to the XBLA
If any of you have fond memories of staying up late at night to just alter one card in your Yugioh deck for the battle ahead then youll definitely love what i have to say ... i hope.
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Decade Duels has been announced to be released to the XBLA sometime this year by Konami. Over the past years Yu-Gi-Oh! Games have only reached Nintendo DS and PSP systems (unless you want to count the 5D's racing game for Wii) ... however Konami has finally decided to give us what we want ... a children's card game on XBOX.
5D's follows the story of Yusei Fudo ... so sadly we wont get to see the original King of Games Yugi Mutou in this game ... but honestly i dont care. If you dont keep up with the Original Japanese Version of Yugioh and only seen a glimpse of Yusei in the horrid 4kids dub version ... youll definately missing out on a great character. Heres an example of what i mean
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Jap/Eng Comparison
If you still dont understand , 4kids altered the dialog , story, character personalities. In the 4kids dub Yusei plays the generic heroic role just as any of series however in the Original Japanese hes more of the silent tough type whos more down to earth and cares not about the pleasure of winning but the pleasure of dueling and through his duels he brings about change in his enemies. Heres one last comparison id like to share
5D's Episode 33 Comparison Video: The Last Few Minutes of the Episode
Hopefully you were able to make noticeable comparisons from the two. In anycase ... Back to the XBLA release ... The game has a Story mode that follows Season 1 of the series ... sadly itll most likely take under 4kids dub ...
The developers decided to bring upon classic favorites as well as a couple up to date card sets so we'll be seeing our beloved Dark Magician and Blue Eyes again to bring back old memories ... good or bad.
Not only will we be getting xbox live support with online dueling but you also have the option to participating in tag duels with your friends which fits because the layout looks very much like the Tag Duel series on PSP. The only disappointment i noticed so far is the fact you win cards through playing ... however have the option of buying booster packs ... through the Xbox Live Marketplace ... which totally defeats the purpose of not having to spend anymore money then you already did for the game with Yugioh Video games.
Now since this is 5D's , all you old school players can be expecting the following updates in the game:
Riding Duels (Turbo Duels)
We wont be riding on motorcycles while we play ... however theirs the possibility that this style of play will be introduced. Its not different from regular play its just now theyres what is known as a "Speed Counter" each player gets a speed counter at the beginning of each players turn. The Speed Counter is what allows you to play Speed Spells in this type of duels, limiting the powerful cards you can use right away. the concept seems stupid however once you try it out it starts to rub off on you
Tuner Monsters
We all know of Fusion , theyres been different types of Fusion as the series grew, Now you can expect Tuner monsters, Tuner monsters are special monsters that you can fuse together with other monsters to summon a monster of equal level of the combined monsters. For example:
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Synchro Summon - Junk Warrior (Version 1) [HD]
Id that doesnt clear things up try this example:
Synchro Summon - Drill Warrior
As you can see youll have to update your strategies to keep up with these new monsters however that shouldnt stop you from having fun. As you can tell im VERY excited about this coming to the XBLA. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Decade Duels ... look forward to it sometime this year
