E3 2012 Day 1 in Videos

News | June 5, 2012 9:21 am

Day 1 of E3 2012 is behind us, and if you've read yesterday's News RoudUp, then you know just how much information was put out there. I'll be following with a Day 2 roundup tonight, but for now I'd like to consolidate all of those assets, screen shots and trailers for you all. I'll try to put as much as I can in Spoiler tags to cut down on load times, as there is a ton of info out there.

First up, Far Cry 3, compliments of Ubisoft. On top of the gorgeous trailer Ubi presented us with, info about a four-player co-op mode was also leaked. The co-op mode was said to be developed completely independent of Far Cry 3's expansive single-player. Check out the trailer below:

Next up for Ubisoft was the unveiling a completely new title: Watch_Dogs! Two years in the making, this game is quite an interesting looking techno-thriller. Players will play as a character with the unique ability to see data collected via various means on indiviual people; medical information, criminal records, phone calls, etc. The charater will be able to see how individuals are interconnected through this data, and even boast the ability to disrupt informational networks, causing car accidents by changing traffic lights and the such. Sounds like you'll play as the computer from Eagle Eye. If you're a Deus Ex fan or a conspiracy theorist, or hell just like a good time, check out the trailer below and keep an eye out for Watch_Dogs.

We all knew Assassin's Creed III is on its way, and now Ubi has provided us with a fancy new trailer to salivate over! Obviously we knew that Ezio's story is over with, and Assassin's Creed III contains a new hero, named Connor. Taking place during the Revolutionary War, it seems that AC is making its way to my neck of the woods, with much of the trailer set in Boston. Check it out below:

Ubi also unveiled a new comic book title: Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth. Being touted as a superhero brawler, featuring 20 different characters from the Marvel Universe. The game is Kinect-based, and use motion controls in order to use special attacks and moves throughout many different game modes. I'm not sure how well marrying Marvel with Kinect capabilities will pay off, but I'll definitely give it a shot. Check out the debut trailer:

A gameplay demo for Splinter Cell: Blacklist was also revealed. The next Splinter Cell is said to focus on a younger Sam Fisher, which is hit or miss with fans. One things for sure, though: The game looks gorgeous!

Wow, well Ubisoft is definitely a tough act to follow. EA had some tricks up its sleeve as well, however, one of which being the gameplay trailer for Crysis 3! Powered by Crytek's CryEngine 3, Crysis 3 looks to once again set the bar for visuals in a video game. Looks like Prophet will return in the third entry, bringing with him a lethal composite bow and, of course, his enhanced nanosuit. Check out the gameplay below:

EA also showcased some gameplay from the next Medal of Honor: Warfighter. Powered entirely by the Frostbit 2 Engine, instead of being split like 2010's entry, Warfighter is also being said to have been written by real Tier 1 Operators. The last MOH may have left a sour taste in your mouth, but Warfighter may certainly be worth your time. Check out some gameplay below:

Dead Space fans were delighted to see Isaac Clarke make a return, and this time he's brought a co-op partner with him! That's right, Clarke will be joined by John Carver for some drop in drop out co-op action. Nothing keeps friends together like containing a Necromorph outbreak! Check out the gameplay trailer below:

In Microsoft's camp, Fable: The Journey was trailered, and was accompanied by an official release date: October 9th of this year! This entry in the Fable series is fully Kinect-based, interestingly enough. I don't know how hardcore Fable fans will react, but I'm thoroughly enjoying Fable III so I will give The Journey a shot!

Of course the main thing on a lot of 360 fans minds is Halo 4, and Microsoft provided a gameplay trailer to hold us over until November! There isn't much Halo 4 info that hasn't already been leaked, so feast your eyes on some gameplay footage:

Microsoft also showed off the next entry in the Forza Motorsport series, title Forza Horizon. A fancy trailer accompanied the announcement, so check that out below:

Of course, Microsoft did not forget about the 360 itself, and what new features will be in store for us in the coming months. Along with the announcement of even more channels, apps, and sports coverage, the unveiling of a new technology, SmartGlass, seemed to be the most interesting. Check out the technology in the video below:

South Park: The Stick of Truth was also featured, showing off a debut trailer. It looks like players will be able to find out what it feels like to be inside an episode of South Park! Check it out:

We were also greeted with a gameplay trailer of an upcoming Tomb Raider game. Set for release on March 5th of next year, Lara is back and looking very nice in the gameplay footage below:

The next entry in the Gears of War series, Gears of War: Judgement, also featured a trailer at E3, along with more information on the story and such. Damon Baird will take the lead, along with his partner Augustus Cole, in this prequel set 15 years before the first Gears of War. Check out the trailer below, and prepare to be wowed:

Finally, some Resident Evil 6 gameplay was shown off with its new trailer. The next RE doesn't look very scary, but it does seem to be action packed. I mean, anything is better than Operation Raccoon City, amirite! Check that out below:
