2010, series of sports has been one of the biggest spoken about subject so far, with many different selections to choose from. Now comes NBA 2K10. One of the most anticipated Basketball games of all time. The game sports many great features and original ideas, including the Draft Combine elements. Visuals and Presentation are a big part of the series and they will not let you down yet. With a Soundtrack to make you move, and control of your players to make you want to dunk every time, this game is everything you would like it to be.
Graphically, the game steps it up yet another notch. The player details are done very well, and you can recognize your favorite players without actually looking at their jerseys and all. The cheerleaders and crowd were also done nicely, and add to the respective elements of the game, bringing you closer to actually sitting and watching a real game. The scoreboards, arenas and everything are highly detailed compared to their real life counterparts. Even the nets on the basketball goals don't look to cheesy either. All in all very nice and well done!
Sound, is awesome! The sounds of the crowd, the swooshing of the net, to the grunts of the basketball players, all sound real. When running around the court, you hear the many stops and skid noises caused by a players shoes. Not to mention the announcers do a great job in commentating every game, making it feel like a new experience every time! The soundtrack selection is also a great highlight of the game! Artists such as Flo Rida, Kanye West, 2Na from Jurassic 5, and many others introduce their level of energy through their lyrics to enhance your experience.
Controls, are okay. I wasn't to impressed with the controls and some of the interactions when 1 on 1 against a player on the court. Your commands are not recognized quickly enough, and you end up screwing up a play. Other than that, it plays very smoothly, and any one player can pick up a controller and give it a go, with no issues. The controls done with the 3pt shootout are yet another clumsy style. I have yet to score more than 5 points on a shootout and get upset every time while trying to do better. Online, when playing, they should allow you to control the replays and not allow the people you are competing with to constantly show you replays of their dunks and all, which ruins the online experience. With a little more fine tuning, things can be real fun and even more enjoyable.
Achievements, are cake! You can't go wrong with the basic achievement list with any sports game. There are mainly player based and performance based achievements. There are about 8 online achieves if I remember correctly, which might be a pain if you do not have a boosting partner. People have a bad attitude online, and like to be on the rub it in your face style, which can upset a ton of people. But back to achieves, they can be done within about 4-8 hours depending on skill and online play.
Replay Value, is High. You will always have a friend coming over, or someone online willing to play a game or two with you, and with all the great presentation elements, the game will always remain fun!
