I saw Venom, it was just ok. The cg on the character was good enough, but I don't like that Hardy guy as Eddie Brock, and on the whole the movie was unexciting. Making it outside of the MCU with no Spiderman was the dumbest mistake I can imagine next to having Topher Grace. Another strike against it is that it ALSO HAD WOODY FREAKING HARRELSON. I used to like him as an actor but I am sick of seeing him in so many movies. Michelle Williams plays Anne Weying (who is important if you're familiar with the comics) and she did a great job, better than anyone else in this.
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoiler

I hope her "alter character" shows up again in the inevitable sequel.

Anyway, it wasn't "so bad it's good", it was just kind of bad because it was so mediocre. I am a big fan of the character itself but wouldn't recommend this to anyone. There is a post-credits scene showing a nice chunk of the upcoming "Into the Spiderverse", so if you see Venom then stay for that.

I am torn on Venom. On the one hand, I love Tom Hardy. On the other, his accent was awful and all the sweating was gross. It was a good enough movie, but I’m actually glad there’s no spider man. I’m on spidey overload mode right now.

+edit+ I had to google what you are talking about. Normally I'd be embarrassed, but I am proud to say I had no idea that Machine Gun Kelly was still relevant and/or cameo'd in the tepid movie.

Finally got to see Aquaman. Walked out of the theater wanting to come home and jump into some serious 3D modeling. Must find references first......and lighting tutorials.....

9/10 - Movie overall was very good but it had some really cringey parts which stopped the movie in it's tracks

Aquaman - Way better than I was expecting, and probably my favourite DCU movie even though that isn't saying much. Mera is like my new favourite character ever--she has gorgeous Kool-Aid-red hair and water witch powers! Amber Heard played her well. The writers also did good making Manta an interesting character.

Batman vs Ninja Turtles - This was also better than expected, lots of fun. The art style for the TMNT is really odd in this though.

Suspiria(2018) - This was artsy fartsy and cool, I love how far sideways it starts going about halfway through. Tilda Swinton is great as always, and 50 Shades of Dakota Johnson was totally decent in this, even if she did keep her clothes on for most of it. Now I want to see the old original version. Bonus points for unnecessary blood and non-sexual nudity.

Captain Marvel - I love this character, but the movie was just ok. Brie Larson was fine as the character but the writing was all over the place and the pacing was bad; also, this character has a laughably convoluted origin story that wasn't even fully covered here. TBH, I wish it had been the stereotypically sexier Ms Marvel version of the character. While not terrible, this is probably the least-good MCU flick. The best thing I can say about this film is that Carol Danvers was wearing a Nine Inch Nails shirt for most of it. The cg-de-aged Samuel L Jackson was surreal to see. Loved the Agent Coulson parts.

Deathstalker - I randomly watched this off Prime Video and it was supremely enjoyable. This is an R-rated barbarian flick through and through, with as much action and nudity as I could ask for in something not NC-17. Highly recommended to fans of Conan, Red Sonja, Excalibur, and other 70's and 80's sword 'n sandals films.

Lords of Chaos - This is a heavy dramatization of the Scandinavian black metal scene, focusing very specifically on Norway's Mayhem (and specifically Euronymous). It's more about their personal lives than the bands or music scene, but still had some great moments recreating early Mayhem gigs. Recommended to all metal fans and anyone curious about black metal's infamy. Bonus score for pointless nudity.

Metalocalypse: Doomstar Requiem - I don't know how I missed this back in the days when this show was around, but it's an hour-long rock opera that finishes the story of Dethklok. I'm glad they got the bigger guest voices back (including George from Cannibal Corpse and Kirk from Metallica) and, even though it was more rock than metal, the songs were entertaining and clever. Good way to send off the series.

Bumblebee - I feel like this is the best Transformers since the first Bay one, possibly even better. The girl in this is pretty, but the best parts to me are the shots of the war on Cybertron -- I could seriously go for 2 hours of that, I would buy that shit on 4k and nerd out. Hearing Soundwave say "Decepticons attack!" in his overly processed voice made me feel like a giddy child, as well as making baby gravy in my pants. My complaints are that the "my best friend" and robot melee scenes all went on a little too long (why do these things fist fight so much when they can easily produce weaponry??). People told me this was a reboot and not a prequel, but Michael Bay produced this and there are several easter eggs and callouts to the other Transformer movies, and the final scene segues perfectly into the first Bayformers, so idk wtf. Did I mention the girl is pretty? John Cena might have been annoying except he says, "They call themselves Decepticons! Does that not send up any red flags?!" and that made me chuckle. What IS annoying is how aggressively useless the girl's friend-boy is throughout. Also, this movie falls in to a familiar trap of using way too many props and lingering camera shots to shove it down your throat that it's set in an earlier decade. Last thing I'll say is that they should have done the human popping scenes differently to get the rating down to PG, even if it is entertaining to see Decepticons goosh annoying humans.
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoiler

Watch this in 1080p and cream your pants with me!
Cybertron war scenes - Soundwave, Starscream and Shockwave show up? you goddamn right Autobots fallback!

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom - This was a tonally inconsistent sequel to JW much like the Lost World was to JP. Some moments are violent and serious, others are wacky and downright stupid. Starlord and Dallas Bryce Howard are as good as they were previously, they just didn't have as good a plot or writing to work with. The requisite tagalong children & scientists are a bit annoying and ultimately forgettable. The CG effects seem to get worse as the overly long movie progresses, making the practical effect dinos stick out. The new bio-engineered "big bad" of this movie is stupider and less exciting than the Indominus Rex, Spinosaur, or any of the previous ones, and it's weird how they keep making the Tyrannosaurs in to heroes in these sequels. The human antagonist was poorly acted or written or something, his scenes were cringe. Jeff Goldblum's cameo was pretty dang good. I was hoping they'd sneak Laura Dern in too.

Midsommar - Wow this movie was batshit crazy in the best way possible, it's my favourite movie in a long, long time. It's difficult for me to say what I like about it without spoiling things, but whoa holy crap.

Spider-Man: Far From Home - I really like Tom Holland's version of spiderguy but overall this movie was just okay in my opinion. Zendaya playing "MJ" manages to become more annoying as the character develops, as does best friend boy. Mysterio was interesting and Fury & Hill were enjoyable.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix - This wasn't the terrible trainwreck I was expecting, but it was also not great. If you like the "first class" X-actors then you'll enjoy this film -- also it has maybe the most acting Sansa Stark has ever done and it's still not much more than brooding and teary-eyed; either she's been pigeonholed in to this typecast or that's her entire spectrum as a thespian. Michael Fassbender's Magneto/Erik is once again the highlight of the story.

A Star Is Born (encore edition) - None of the music is to my taste but I like Lady Gaga and I enjoyed watching her play off Bradley Cooper's country-rock-star character that I could practically smell through the screen. I totally understand why this was so hype when it released.

Terminator: Dark Fate - This was pretty good, maybe not as great as some reviewers say. It was cool seeing Linda Hamilton & Ahhnold back together, and I like the new character Grace (in this movie AND in gears 5) -- Mackenzie Davis has a great butt that I would like to knead and bite. I'm still waiting for a movie that is 50% or more scenes from the future war with endoskeletons and Hunter-Killers wiping out humans.

The Lighthouse - Overall this was just too slow-burn and un-rewarding to me. Willem Dafoe and Robert whatshisname were both good, I think it was the direction/pacing that kept it from being more entertaining to me. I do have to say it had a great overall look, they nailed it with the black & white style. A few good, highly-entertaining moments, some weirdly fun and some wtaf.

3 From Hell - This was pretty damn good, mandatory viewing for fans of Devil's Rejects and/or Rob Zombie flicks in general--plenty of nonchalant violence, casual depravity and inappropriate nudity. I watched the theatrical version on dvd but am going to watch the unrated 4K blu-ray soon to see what's different.
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoiler

It sucks Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig) wasn't able to do more of it.

Booksmart - This was really fun & entertaining, almost like a female version of Superbad. After listening to the commentary I was surprised to find out Olivia Wilde directed this, she has a good eye and style and I feel like maybe she was deserving of the "smartest person in the room" attitude she had in some interviews I read.

The Dark Knight Returns (1 & 2) - These were good and definitely deserving of the hype (both for these animated films and the 1986 Frank Miller books they were based on). Part 1 shows a pretty dark but non-gratuitous, aging Batman doing all sorts of Batman things coming out of retirement, then part 2 turns everything up to 11. Highly recommended to Bat fans and people that enjoy DC animated stuff in general, but this certainly isn't for kids, it earns the PG-13 rating.[/i]

It's a shame you did not like this movie as much as I thought you would. But then again, this is a movie that it is hard to recommend. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was on of the best horror movies I've watched recently. Not too much narrative but the acting was superb.

Have you watched The VVitch or Hagazussa?

Yes I have seen The VVitch, loved it. That, to me, is a good example of a slow burn with great payoff.

Going to look up Hagazussa now.
