What I eat doesn’t make you shit. My beliefs are my own and I don’t need validation from the masses. I’ve lived in the inner city for over 20 years(BK stand up!) and traveled abroad(EU, SA). After experiencing different cultures I'd like to think I have an idea about what life is.

The very idea of what life is has changed shape and form as I’ve grown up. Hell I used to be very Pro Democrat in my beliefs. Thinking the democrats were for “my people”. To me ”people needed help and we should give it to them, because if you take care of them today tomorrow will be brighter". I look back now and see how foolish I had been.

Today I’m very much of the mindset that you should earn what you have. Do away with the handouts. The abuses of immigration, Social Security, Welfare, Medicaid, etc., have left my generation having to pay for helping the those who that have abused the system, "Those poor folks who needed help". Who, as it turned out weren’t so poor after all. Those who are continuing to bleed the system dry.

Baseball didn’t test for steroids until now but it didn’t make it right to use them. I’m Pro-Women, it’s my favorite shape, color, taste, and smell. But I shouldn’t be passed the check on your medical expenses if you’re out there spreading it like mustard, not using common sense. I shouldn’t pay for your birth control, abortions, Gyno visits, etc. Same goes for dudes, your ED, your problem, you got the Clap, your problem. If you show little regard for others, why should things just be handed to you?

We insurance policy holders pay for these things. We taxpayers pay for these things. Planned Parenthood(http://www.plannedparenthood.org/nassau-county/fees-payment-options-5062.htm) is funded by (Federal & State) taxpayer money and according to their website, either will give you free or reduced birth control. The indoctrinated will have you believe that we need to give even more. But at what cost?

Where does this money come from? Some of us think there is a magic fund that happily spits out money on request. Free to someone else means the costs are passed on to you and I. A combination of higher premiums and deductibles as well as taxes pay for the shortfalls of these programs.

We live in a Democracy but we’re behaving like a socialist republic. The only way a system like this can survive is if people didn’t abuse of it. People who are just given with reciprocation will almost never be appreciative and give back. They’ll never move on from being a taker to a provider.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still for people getting help that NEED it. I’m just really against those that abuse of it.

I appreciate your opinion, but I have to ask, why even bother making this thread? Political threads tend to become flame wars, as you and others seen in the Random Thoughts thread. I mean, you are entitled to your opinion, but I just see this thread as a ticking time bomb. As soon as a post is made against your opinion, you will more than likely stand up for your opinion, and a back and forth will ensue, ending with Mod interaction, possible suspensions, etc.

Just sayin......

Maybe I'm wrong, and this will be a happy little thread, but I doubt it.....

In response to only the part regarding the contraception bill. It is not YOUR money that is going to provide this for women, unless you own a company and provide insurance for your workers. It is not funded by taxpayers. It is a mandate that corporations that already provide some form of insurance for it's employees must include contraception as part of it's coverage. If you do happen to own a company and already provide insurance, why would you not want this covered? I am not going to pretend like I know everything about women's health as I am not a woman (you shouldn't either) but the fact is the price of those pills is much less than costs from other complications that could arise. As far as planned parenthood goes, yes I am sure there are people who abuse the system but as far as it being "Your tax dollar" it is .3% of the federal budget. That is less than one percent. So out of your pocket about 12 cents a year if that depending on income. There is another example of the pills being way cheaper than an abortion or other needed medical care that those individuals can't afford. It is a fact that preventative care is much cheaper for everyone (insurance companies/taxpayers/ individuals) than Emergency care which can and has led to bankruptcy. Like in the case of a republican woman who was against Obamacare and refused coverage and is now in bankruptcy court for her medical bills. THAT is shit we shouldn't have to pay for!!! We all pay for something that we don't use and/or don't agree with but that doesn't mean that all people that do use these services are lazy pieces of shit.//// End rant.

That being said I do respect you're right to an opinion and do respect opinions that are fact based.

This. Entirely this. Congratulations to the OP that you currently have a job and can afford to claim that its only lazy people who don't, that is not true. While I will agree with you that there have been (and always will be) people that abuse these systems, they can be a lifeline for people who fall on hard times through NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN.

Try being laid off from a job, and then can't find work because you made too much money previously and no one wants to hire you, afraid you'll leave as soon as you find a better job. Or imagine growing up in a neighborhood that doesn't do shit for funding their public schools, you get a shit education and can't get into a good college, or have to struggle to prove you "deserve" aid, only to get into college to find out you aren't prepared, fail out and work menial jobs the rest of your life.

Our education system in America is a joke, and although I was not a fan of all the DETAILS of Obamacare, I am a fan of health coverage for everyone. It is utter and complete bull that more than 11 million kids in America don't have health insurance.....and I'm sure its entirely THE KIDS fault that their parents can't afford it.

Yes the government should be more selective about handing out free money, but at the same time doing away with it is so far out of ridiculous its not funny. We can't survive as a completely capitalist society, we can't....nor could we survive with the extremes of socialism, we need a government somewhere in the middle.

I could continue this rant on for at least another 15-20 paragraphs, I'll end it here. So as a person who is ashamed to currently be receiving government aid, with a plan to fix it so I won't anymore (I graduate college in a few months - and no I did go to a "good" high school), who did nothing to deserve to lose his job, who has a wife and two children to take care of, I say THANK YOU to those people who don't begrudge the small amount of tax dollars spent so we are not homeless, and without food. To those who are so well off that they'd never be in my situation: hopefully you won't ever have to be here, but screw you if you think I WANTED this.

Edit: noticed your last statement at the bottom. I can assure you that there are less people out there that abuse the system than you think. The government IS doing more things to regulate aid/assistance. I can't tell you how often they accuse me of cheating the system even when I'm not.

^^^ I said it DOESN'T mean that the people that use these things are lazy POS's. I sent you a PM to clarify & apologize to anyone who took it as I was saying people who use any form of aid are lazy as I personally have needed unemployment among other things at times just to get by.

yes it is true that our education system is laughable. i came from a school where we literally had a wall held up by duct tape. the school was originally one of those "open minded" schools during the 60's that had no walls inside the school, just one big open room with different people in different places teaching(just imagine your school, without the walls dividing rooms). then they added the temp walls later on. pathetic, i must say.

regarding health coverage for everyone. great idea, sure. but Canada has free health care for everyone and it takes a LONG time for you to be seen by a doctor, at least that's what a friend of mine from Canada told me. maybe Kait could elaborate, since she is from Canadia.

there are flaws in every system, especially our own right now. the ones who sit there, do drugs, claim they cant get a job, and expect welfare to cover their asses are the worst kind of people. which is a huge percentage around here.... Alabama: the state of the lazy

Agreed. The point I'm trying to get at is people shouldn't have to not go to the hospital simply because they cant afford it. I'm not a fan of the systems in other countries, I have a friend from Poland whose mother had to wait over a year and a half for a surgery that should have been done in a week.

Other countries' coverage isn't perfect but ours is hideous for those who don't have insurance but make more than the federal poverty level...

I’ve NEVER said that public assistance was wrong in fact if needed it’s a great thing, seeing tax dollars that are being used as a temporary measure until you can do for yourself is the way the system is intended to work. What I have a problem with are the families who have been in the system for 20 years with no end in sight. That’s wrong. Those are the people who receive but never give back, never try to better themselves.

@BH, state and federal governments took in 2.3 TRILLION dollars in 2011, 18% of our GDP(www.CBO.gov). FYI, I’m paying 12 dollars extra this year on my premium for my family not 12 cents. I don’t even go to the doctor.

Well then let me apologize for my assumption. However when you have made mention of what bothers you, it seems you are against it entirely, only adding that people who need it should get it. No one wants people undeserving to get it, I was livid when I heard about the lady in Michigan getting assistance after winning a million dollars. THAT is abusing the system.

The problem that I have is that in general Republicans want to cut funding for these programs. To me that is not the answer, they need more regulation and need to try to weed out those who shouldn't get it, not make it more of a commodity by limiting funds and screwing those who do deserve it. By weeding out those who shouldn't get it, there should be a surplus and then require less funding in the future....

To imply Democrats don't care about who gets it would be wrong as well. Yes they do overspend on stupid programs, but so do Republicans, just on different programs. What so many people seem to forget is that both parties are screw ups and just screw things up differently.

* As a note although I have stopped claiming myself as a Republican - simply due to the ignorant things some people in the party shout out - I have voted Republican for almost every election. So this isn't an attack against Republicans - I just don't like either party, I prefer somewhere in the middle which simply doesn't exist due to our stupid election system that really only allows two candidates.

@BH, state and federal governments took in 2.3 TRILLION dollars in 2011, 18% of our GDP(www.CBO.gov). FYI, I’m paying 12 dollars extra this year on my premium for my family not 12 cents. I don’t even go to the doctor.

The 12 cents I was referring to was the amount of your tax money that goes to planned parenthood which you seem to be against. Your premiums go up because of services like that being cut so women and/or uninsured people have no other choice than use the ER so they can recieve treatment & then can't afford the bills. That falls back on the hospitals who in turn pass those costs on to insurance companies. That is about as well as I can explain it, if you still don't understand then I don't know what else to say.
Your personal insurance and tax money are 2 totally different things.

BH, Dude I’m not against planned parent hood I’m against chicks who had 3 and 4 abortions but are on the pill. The point is that we shouldn’t continuously pass the bill because some are neglecting to pay for what they’re getting. Our premiums rise no matter we use the services or not. There is a difference between unable and unwilling. I understand unable life sucks sometimes, but there’s no excuse for unwilling. It’s just like our gov’t giving money to countries that don’t pay back. Why would they if we’ll still give regardless?
